Hey a Merry Christmas shout-out to all my fellow adult webmasters! I hope you’re having a great time with friends and family - enjoy yourself and remember the net will still be here when you get back so take some days off!

But what I also think you should do is ponder a bit on your current situation in the online porn market. Did you reach the results you wanted this year? Did you even set any goals? What do you have planned for next year? Have you grown this year or are you stuck in the same cycles and the same $XXX?

If there’s something I’ve learned this year it is that you gotta have a plan and set some frickin goals! Else you’ll just keep on checking your stats, gettings discouraged over them and then not get your blogs updated, not get your sites submitted and not get your new sites built. Write out some rules on how your daily webmaster life should be - I only check stats one time a day (and I don’t expect any sales - lol ok that’s a bit hard to do ), I only check email one time a day and so on. Words written on paper carry much more power than just your thoughts. Also write down longterm goals and not only for your webmaster and financial life but also your real life! I know it sounds a bit weird to some of you but it definitely works for me so try it out just for a month!

The new year will be exciting for me as I plan on dwindleling(sp?) my adult sites down to a handful of big ones and then I’ll begin focusing on mainstream sites since I think there’re many more possibilities to be creative about getting traffic and developing new site concepts.

What do you wanna do next year?

I might as well have called this post “Things that amazes me in the adult business”. Most of us new Adult Webmasters keep on churning out TGP galleries and free sites, just the same old, same old. I do (I hope you do too!) realize that I will never get rich off this - I’m too green to get all the mega traffic partner accounts and both ways of marketing are heavily saturated because well everyone does ‘em!

Now I know there are arguments like “Galleries/free sites are a great way to get into the biz, get to know people etc.” and to a certain point I agree. But how about sitting down for a month, reading about all your options, ask questions on Netpond and generally getting to know the biz. You could also make some galleries and other pages to get some basic skills (HTML/image editing etc.) if you lack these. And then use your imagination and come up with an idea that goes beyond the normal stuff newbies do and which you believe would work!

I’ve been trying new things lately and here’s two things that has been cool - not major earners but just something that shows there’s a lot of money out there besides TGP/free sites.

I found a niche forum by using google and have been posting there like all the other surfers do - you know like “Hey when I was surfing xxx.com for porn I just found this foot fetish gallery - hot stuff don’t you think!?” - Gallery of course has my linking code, you get the picture.

Here’s my stats for less than half an hour of work:
4 sales at a conversion ratio of 1:18! And this is revshare so people will probably be rebilling for a long time couze they *love* the niche.

Second example - I recently setup a blog where I pretend to be a crazy swinger/dater/webcam sex obsessed woman. The site has only had around 1000 unique visitors but none the less those few visitors have produced a $50 sale and a ticket @ Pussy Cash - ratio? 1:37.

Now I know that those ratios could be pure luck and that I need much more traffic to the sites before I can really tell how good they’re performing but my point is this: Remarkable results can quite possibly be achieved by asking yourself if you still wanna be submitting galleries at this time next year? I’ve been in this biz for one year now and submitting galleries/free sites is becoming boring - why stick to the same methods of generating income when there’s a ton of new ones out there YOU can invent!

For a long time I’ve been struggling a lot with my sales text and descriptions - I still do galleries and free sites but I often find that my text is not the best at all. So, I thought that a way to make it better would be to learn new words!

English is not my native language (I’m from Denmark) so I don’t know all that much sexual slang and synonyms for body parts/sex. But that is about to change since I found the sites below:

I started in adult in December 2004 which is about 9 months ago now. I have been submitting free sites and galleries over this time as every good, little noob should be doing! I started to get into blogs and have some that I have and still do develop(ed) on and others that I have abandoned because they turned out to be too boring for me to write to often. I opened a link list this summer where this blog you’re reading is at and I plan to run this thing big.

Now what have I learned then over these past months?

1) It sucks to be a submitter because you will never gain your own traffic pool but just keep providing content for TGP’s/MGP’s/Link Lists. Ok you might get some bookmarkers if you setup a hub or something like that but it’s still not all that longterm imo.

2) Search Engine traffic is king! The little I got of this has convinced me that this is where I wanna put in my main effort in the new year.

3) To be your own boss seems nice but it’s quite hard. It takes a lot of self-discipline, something that I still lack from time to time. This is another area where I want to focus my efforts in.

My gameplan for the rest of the year:
I’ve just gotten my hands on a new shiny server which sports nearly 60 Mbps of Bandwidth so I’m gonna try out submitting movie galleries and see how I can convert those. The good thing about galleries is that you can sit down and make 60 totally ready to submit galleries over the course of a weekend. I do it this way couze then I only have to worry about submitting them every day for the next months.

The other thing I’ll do is make pages/sites that are optimized heavily for the search engines. I know what some of the search engines really like, so it shouldn’t be too hard to achieve some good results in this area before the end of the year.

And the last thing I’ll do is always think really hard about being innovative. Adult seems to be very saturated and I for one agree with the people who says there’s already way too much free porn out there. Too many TGP’s giving away too much easily accessable content leads to badder conversion ratios. That’s why I’m gonna capture surfers off the SE’s before they even get to the free pictures and movies - text and a teaser pic or two is all we need!

I have listed all the rather crazy September promotions here on my blog and I have also tried to pursue some of them myself. But being a gallery submitter myself it can be quite hard to get 5 sales a day without many high traffic partner accounts. Therefore I seem to stumble around between the promos submitting galleries like a madman to try and get that cool PSP, Laptop or whatever the latest fad is.

This has actually made me think twice about what I wanna do in the future to earn money in the Online Adult Biz. What I wanna begin to spend my time with is long term projects that can provide stable traffic to sponsors. I think most people get to this point where you wanna be one of the guys in control of the traffic .

So the best long term traffic I can think of is Search Engine Traffic. I’m already working on that with this Link List but this is a really longterm project so in the mean time I gotta think up other possibilities. I got some pretty succesful blogs so I think that will be the route to follow for me. I’ll develop and drop some of those I have right now and add a couple - and I’ll report back here often with my findings

I think that’s enough ranting for now - expect more thoughts here about possible alternative ways of generating revenue in adult today! I’m a bit fed up with the old free sites/galleries for newbies so I’ll go explore my options now!
